Yahoo Gets Rid Of Deals And Yahooligans For A New Focus

Bangalore: Yahoo is dumping ‘Deals’ and the ‘Yahooligans’, to focus on building ‘beautiful products’ like Yahoo Mail for iPad and Android tablets and Yahoo Weather for iPhone, as said by the company’s platforms executive Jay Rossiter in a blog post.

Besides Deals and Yahooligans which is a Kids Web guide, older versions of the company’s free email service will stop being available in the week of June 3. Yahoo Mail and Messenger apps for feature phones will run on the last day of April to show that internet – linked Smartphones are taking over market.

Prior to this decision of getting rid with these apps, Yahoo had seen a makeover back in February initiated by Marissa Mayer. Least interesting ads were redesigned, providing space to highlight news of interest to visitors, along with most sought after feeds.

The company has also been focusing on products and services for Smartphones and tablet computers.

After being Yahoo’s chief, Mayer has engineered ideas with a vision to ‘make the world’s daily habits inspiring and entertaining.’ The struggling internet search pioneer has then on reinvented itself as a renowned digital media, escaping Google’s shadow.
