Will Nokia Use 'World's Strongest Material' To Build Lumia 1000?

Bangalore: Nokia, the Finnish mobile manufacturer, is all-set to develop Graphene, ‘the world’s strongest material’ as it’s been granted 1.35 billion dollars by the European Union. Graphene is made up of pure carbon and only one-atom thick.

The company claims that it is 300 times stronger than steel. According to the reports by News.com.au, the substance has a number of applications and is speculated to have benefits in electronics, solar energy, medicine and water desalination. The grant was provided by the European Union in order to ‘promote high risk research, offset by potential breakthrough with high technological or societal impact’.

The company had been working with grapheme since 2006 and has identified multiple areas where this material can be applied in modern computing environments, said Henry Tirri, Nokia’s CTO. As per the sources, grapheme as a substance is said to be stronger than diamonds which could be potentially used to create smash proof phones.

Now let’s wait and see whether Nokia’s rumored flagship, Lumia 1000 will be a Graphene-made unbreakable phone.
