Kolkata Techie Appointed as World Bank Advisor to Bangladesh


BANGALORE: With the sole aim to develop the IT industry of neighboring country like Bangladesh, World Bank has recently appointed Kolkata-based technocrat Bikram Dasgupta as the international expert advisor of the country. The founder and executive chairman of Globsyn Group  and an alumnus of Harvard Business School, he will also serve to groom the young aspirants to become the IT industry-ready and has set the target to build 34,000 IT professionals in the country.

Dasgupta is the CEO of Globsyn Technologies Limited. Since 1980, he has been in the global Information Technology Industry. Presently, he owns companies which focus on the following areas—Software development, Infrastructure & Knowledge Parks. He is well known for single-handedly winning the largest ($ 50 million) export contract from Dell Computer, USA, which is still rated as the largest single contract in the hardware industry in India.

He is also the brains behind the concept of Knowledge Parks in India. His first project, Infinity, in 1996, the first intelligent workplace in India, was heralded as a cornerstone project, redefining workplace, from which global deliveries could be executed.
