HP Embraces Android For Mobile Devices

Bangalore: HP is adopting Google Android Operating System to run a series of upcoming mobile devices, reports ReadWriteMobile.

Though it’s an odd move for the company which had fallen way behind its rivals, it will soon announce its first high end Android tablet powered by NVIDIA Tegra 4 chips running on Android, as told by sources to ReadWriteMobile.

Even if HP has a few new Windows 8 tablets, the company plans to take this move as a reaction to Microsoft’s $ 2 billion loan to Dell and its lack of faith on Windows 8, says BI. This tablet would be one of the faster Android devices in the market and Tegra 4 is on one of the first quad-core chips based on ARM’s new Cortex-A15 design.

This seems to be a big win for Google. Android has been gradually moving into the PC market and HP seems to be the partner that would take Google to a higher point.

HP’s previous attempts with Palm and Web OS had ended in disaster.  Palm was not rich enough and HP could not invest enough on the TouchPad after the first versions showed a lot of flaws. More importantly, there was nothing that compelled people to buy it despite those flaws.
