Google To Go Retail Through Its Own Stores

Bangalore: Google is to open string of retail stores in order to give that first hand feel of its products to the customers, according to the tech blog 9to5google.

The first string of Google stores will be opened in U.S. by the starting of holiday season which spans from November to mid of January, followed by stores at Dublin, Ireland, according to the blog. So by the end of 2013, one may have Google devices physically in their hand and may help themselves for better decision over gadgets.

The blog said that the Search giant decided upon this idea while finalizing the plans for Google Glass. "The leadership thought consumers would need to try Google Glass first hand to make a purchase. Without being able to use them first hand, few non-techies would be interested in buying Google's glasses (which will retail from between $500 to $1,000)," the blog said.

Google till now aired their devices online for sales; has several in-store kiosks called Chrome Stores found in some Best Buy locations in the U.S. and several other PC World stores in the UK. This move from Google seems to be on tracks with the popular Apple Stores and Microsoft Stores, where their hardware devices were put on display for the customers to explore them in real time situation.

The stores will be offering Google gadgets like Nexus devices, Google Chromebooks, Google TV and future products like Google Glasses that are yet to be released.
