Google Glass Specs Revealed, First Units Ready for Shipment


Bangalore: Search giant Google prepares to add an another invention to its book as it sets to launch its most flattering intelligent device the "Google Glass", a wearable head mounted display. The high-tech eyewear can capture 5-megapixel images and videos at a resolution of 720p and also feature 16GB of storage onboard.

This unique and fresh gadget from Google would enable the world through a “Glass”; the gadget will utilize many already-existing Google applications, such as Google Now, Google Maps, Google+, and Gmail.

To give a perfect fit there is an adjustable nose pad and a durable frame which fits any face. The gadget also comes with extra nosepads in two sizes. The display is equivalent to a 25-inch HD screen viewed from eight feet away. It has 16GB of storage onboard, 12GB of usable memory available to the wearer.

Audio is transferred via a bone conduction transducer. The gadgets wireless capabilities include Bluetooth, WiFI 802.11 b/g and are compatible with any Bluetooth phones. Micro-USB charger is also included along with the charger. The CPU is a Single Core Processor and RAM 256MB to 512MB. The Graphics Limited GPU.

Currently, there is no lens fitted to them, so the company is considering partnering with sunglass retailers such as Ray-Ban or Warby Parker and plans to open retail stores to allow customers to try on the device.

According to Techcrunch, the first batch is ready for shipment to ones who had signed up for the device at Google’s I/O conference last year.

Google Glass is likely to be available from 2014 in India and the official Price in India is not yet been released by the Company. However this technologically advanced gadget is rumored to cost above 60,000.
