Google Doodles Causes Loss of Work Hours

Bangalore: Google has been releasing animated doodle every day since the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games 2012. The search giant doodles has depicted 5 athletes playing different sports including football, basketball, swimming, fencing, running, and javelin throw.

Though it is a very cool stuff, Google's interactive doodle has lead to loss of working hours as people get busy exploring them during work.

Google is known for making work a lot of fun. Employees there are famously given 20 percent of the office time to explore their own pet projects, which has resulted in the birth of Gmail and Google News.

The Daily Mail reported that every time the company places an interactive doodle on its simple homepage, the productivity of employees across the world drops.

Last year at around the same time, Google had created a guitar-themed doodle in memory of late musician Les Paul's 96th birthday party. According to website Extreme Tech, this doodle proved a loss 166 million pounds in the UK, as office workers took time off to play the "guitar" spending a total of 10.7 million hours on the mini-game.
