Google Buys Music Streaming Service Giant, Songza


BANGALORE: Google has enhanced its musical plethora acquiring Songza, a free music streaming and recommendation service. Google announced that it had bought the three-year-old Songza that competes with Pandora and many other customized playlists of recommended songs.  

The financial terms in the deal is not yet reviled, but source unnamed said that the Google paid more than $39 million for Songza.

Songza is known for its exclusive music concierge feature that matches playlists to moods chosen by them, particular time of the day, or to activities, like working, studying or entertaining at home, further it deal with the Weather Channel allows Songza tailor its music recommendations to a listener’s current weather conditions.

Songza was listed as the top free app on iTunes for the iPad app launch, consequently concierge releasing on android and android tablet. Apparently, it became the no.1 overall free app in Canada. After the launch in Canada, Songza reached one million download within a period of 70 days.

Google plans to amalgamate Songza’s technology into its own music-streaming service further making use to Songza’s  tools to recommend musical videos at Google’s You Tube site to adding on a subscription option.

In a statement on its website, Songza said, “We can’t think of a more inspiring company to join in our quest to provide the perfect soundtrack for everything you do,” reports CBC news.
