Facebook's Newsfeed Makeover Will Be Unveiled On March 7

Bangalore: Facebook has taken a move to make some new changes to its news feed, adding a new look to the key elements of its 1 billion member social network.

The social media giant has said that it will show its new makeover at an event on March 7 at its California Headquarters. This is claimed to be the second high profile product event this year followed by the event on social search feature that took place in January.

The newsfeed that will display a stream of photos, videos and comments uploaded by the user’s network of friends is one of the three ‘pillars’ of the service along with search and user profiles, said CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

The last major update to Facebook’s news feed took place in September 2011. Since then the company has been creating ‘mobile first experiences’, as more users access Facebook through mobile devices rather than PCs.

However, the features of Facebook on mobile devices were much lesser as compared to PC versions said analyst Brian Blau, so this could be the way to get some of that together, he added.

Facebook as the world’s No 1 website saw its shares nearly 2 percent up at $27.77 on Friday’s midday trading.
