6 Reasons Why Microsoft Shouldn't Build Its Own Mobile

Bangalore: After long 37 years, Microsoft on last week launched its first ever computer device- Surface. The launch of proposed iPad killer made the tech world think that Microsoft is turning to be like Apple, a company which clubs its software along with its own hardware seeking better revenues and quality.

Some analysts even predicted that Microsoft is building its own Windows Phone handsets to try luck in the mobile market. Since its inception, Microsoft has never proved itself in the hardware market. Rather, it had made most of its revenues from licensing software which are used by billions of people around the world. According to many, if Microsoft denies all this and try to enter a new space, reasons why it likely to fail are many. Here are some of them.

#1 Vendors: The First Problem

As we know, Microsoft over the years had made its fortune mainly by partnering with other companies. Its software are used by many hardware vendors. So if Microsoft plans to come up with its own phone, then it will be competing with the people inside the family. Moreover, Microsoft can make discrimination in licensing the products to favor growth of its own device. So chances for other vendors getting hurt and dropping the company’s software will be high. And as you know, once you lose them, it’s difficult to get them back.
