16. AOL
Running Man
The leaning yellow stick man was made to represent the speed of AOL’s communications software. But in the mid-90s AOL saw a dawn in their business when broadband took over. It soon became history of the dial-up days.
The AOL Running Man was inducted into the Madison Avenue Advertising Walk of Fame in 2009, along with the Budweiser Clydesdales, and joined the best of corporate mascots. Two months later, AOL abandoned its Running Man when the company's strategy shifted to news and video production.

Dog
Nipper, the dog, didn't live to see the electronics company's founding in 1901. The logo is based on a painting from 1899 called "His Master's Voice," which inspired the HMV stores in the U.K. and has also been used by JVC in Japan.
