Phishing: This form of scamming is one of the oldest ones out there. The scammers will send out emails dubbing to be a highly reputed institute, new social networking sites and payment schemes to extract personal information from you.

These sites will have links that will lead to infected sites as well, so if clicked on those links out of curiosity will given scammers easy access to information that are not just online but also those stored in your computer. In cases like this just take time to call up that particular institute and verify directly with the administration.

Lottery Scams: Sounds familiar to most of us; those anonymous calls and emails saying we won a lottery, rings a bell right? Well this is one of the most successful avenues through which many people have been robbed of money. These emails look so real but the catch here lies in that small amount of money you are asked to pay for various services so that the money reaches you safely.

Well wake up! Once that money is sent the sender of that email is long gone with all your money. These emails aren’t going to stop but you can avoid them by being wise and also looking for clues that may  Show that it is fake and an illegitimate email or website.

Nigerian 419 Scam: Have you ever received a sad and heart rendering email that says something like the sender of this email is a war victim and is in possession of a huge amount of money and needs help to move it safely? Well that very first line is the clue that it isn’t real.
