Women Entrepreneurs Face Big Gender Gap: Report


 According to a report, “Challenges Faced by Women Entrepreneurs in India” revealed that in a country like India, 53 percent of the women entrepreneurs belong to the age group of 30-35. Very few of these women are taking support from the financial institution because of complicated and delayed bank procedures.

 47 percent of these women never approached the banks as they were very sure that it won’t be an easy task. The data predicted that utmost 71 percent women are involved in the business as they need more financial support than unmarried and other females, clearly married women take more risk in starting new business in India.

The other problems faced by Indian women entrepreneurs are lack of credit resources, family conflicts, the inordinate delay in obtaining the loans and problems in marketing their products. Though women constitute around 50 percent of population in India, there is very low percentage of women in small scale enterprise. Women are often denied credit by bankers on the ground of lack of collateral security; therefore women’s access to risk capital is very limited.
