U.S. E-Retailer Newegg Logs into India

BANGALORE: U.S.-based leading electronics-focused e-retailer Newegg forayed into India, making its e-commerce website available for online shopping across the country.

The move is part of its global expansion plan and to take on domestic rivals Flipkart and Snapdeal.

"Customers in India can visit our website (Newegg.com) and purchase a wide range of products. Customers can shop and provide feedback to help shape improvement," Newegg North America chief marketing officer Soren Mills said in a statement from Los Angeles in the U.S..

Though the international store will initially have limited products on sale, more will be added in the coming months, as its site is known for cheaper prices and wide selection of electronic goods.

"We are committed to bring our service, products and deals to a wider audience to grow our international presence and make people the world over have a feel of the shopping experience customers in the U.S. enjoy," Mills asserted.

The e-tailer has also provided 24/7 multi-lingual customer service to overcome language barrier involved in transaction and serve even those customers whose native language is not English.

"The new feature allows customers to chat in their own language, which is translated instantly for our service representatives. Responses in English are in turn translated into their language," Mills pointed out.

The website's homepage has an option for Indian customers to select their country and currency from its drop-down menus along with products available in their region.

The award-winning website has over 25 million registered users worldwide and offers customers a wide selection of the latest consumer electronics products with their descriptions and images.
