Secretary of MeitY instructs Hardware Makers to focus on Security Interests
S Krishnan, Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology - MeitY, has instructed manufacturers of electronic components to focus on India’s security interests.
Talking at an occasion, Krishnan said that the public authority has been effectively “instructing” electronic part producers to deal with the country’s security advantages right from the plan period of their new projects. These risks extend beyond individual concerns to encompass substantial threats at the national level”, said Krishnan.
Addressing to this, further Krishnan added, “What we advocate is that and what we try to do both within the government is secure by design. Secure by design is something that we have to ensure even from the time that you (electronic component manufacturers) start designing a product. You design it in a way that the country’s security interests are taken care of”
He explained that cyber security concerns have significantly increased the scale of national security risks. The MeitY secretary likewise underlined the significance of a versatile inventory network that could persevere through outside shocks like international issues. 
“If something happens there (in Taiwan) what will happen to the supply chain of the chips? We need to ensure that there are supply chains which are resilient and we have to ensure that geopolitical issues do not append the economy”, said Krishnan.
Since the rise of the GenAI ecosystem has fueled the global competition for semiconductor chips, his remarks are significant. The developing reception of computer based intelligence innovations and new companies has prompted a flood in the costs and interest for Artificial intelligence chips even as the vast majority of them are made in Taiwan.
