India's Best Start-up Hubs

Okhla: The Startup hub of the north and central India, Okhla, located at the south of New Delhi that houses one of the biggest ecommerce retail brands, SnapDeal. Before the advent of Snapdeal, Okhla housed two other startups, MapmyIndia and Luxor, but today is bringing success for the company all over Delhi. The close proximity to the metro and the posh setup of the area with high rise buildings, Okhla gives Snapdeal a good advantage for business growth.

"With metro connectivity to all parts of Delhi and a scalable infrastructure, Okhla has proven conducive to Snapdeal's fast growth," said a spokesperson for Snapdeal. The company is eyeing a $1 billion growth by the end of the year.

Powai: The posh shopping complex seems like a road that offers boutiques and malls home to many startups for various business ventures from gaming, computers and fashion. The place is said to have over 50 startups that are the initiations of IIT graduates. "All of these ventures have been started by IIT Bombay alumni," said Zishaan Hayath. So it looks like a reunion of students of the same class or also batches.

"There is a lot of bonding among these startups, since many of them come from IIT Bombay. You will be surprised to know that many entrepreneurs from IIT Bombay stay for free with their working batchmates in Mumbai," said Lunia, who has three portfolio companies in Powai as reported by ET. "Powai has a good mix of both large corporates and startups, and passing by these fancy offices we also had the fire to build our company in a similar manner," said Advitiya Sharma, cofounder of the region's biggest startup Housing.com reports ET.

These three hotspots in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore are the front runners that will continue to spur the startup revolution that this country will experience and is already witnessing. Some of these companies will grow to be individual businesses while most of them will be acquired by bigger firms.
