Best Hadoop Startups For Unlocking Big Data Value

Splice MACHINE: Another data mining company that provides a Hadoop-based, SQL-compliant database designed for big data applications. The company deals with the provision of all benefits of NoSQL database, includes the likes of auto-sharding, scalabiltity, fault tolerance along with high availability but at the same time retains SQL.

They do not rewrite any existing SQL based apps or BI tool integration while optimizing queries that power real time OLTP and OLAP applications. They can scale from terabytes to petabytes by simply adding more commodity servers. Splice Machine was founded by Monte Zweden, who previously used to work with NASA.

Trifacta: Started by Joe Hellerstein, who is also a professor of computer science at Berkeley, Trifacta provides a platform that helps or enables users to transform raw and complex data into clean structured formats for analysis. Trifacta has understood that a lot of time goes into transformation of data while also the engineers don’t have the technical ability to work with new data sets on their own.

This according to them is the bottleneck in the data chain. So in order to tackle this problem they came up with something called the ‘Predictive Interaction’ technology to change data manipulation to a visual experience, by which users can easily identify features of interest and concern. Trifacta has come up with a new interaction model that integrates human business insight with machine intelligence. They use visual interaction with intelligence interference and ‘Predictive interaction’ to reduce the gap between people and data.
