After trial run, Google Pay takes its QR Soundbox to Indian Merchants

A multinational technology company Google is planning to turn out the portable speaker, SoundPod to the small merchants using Google Pay across the India in upcoming months. SoundPod is a moveable & portable speaker specially designed to validate and announce the successful payments instantaneously.

Ambarish Kenghe, VP of Products for Google Pay wrote is one significant blog post that the company began a limited trial of SoundPod in the last year, during the testing SoundPod acknowledged an optimistic feedback and helped the merchants to reduce the checkout time.

The adoption of these mini jukeboxes which is popularly known as “soundboxes” internally has witnessed with huge response, permitting the merchants to identify the receipt of payment and contest if any illegal claims occurred.

A prominent fintech firm, Paytm presently ranks top in the market of soundbox market, though the company is fighting for its survival and similarly PhonePe is also expanding the usage of this device robustly. In India, over 20 million merchants are already using any one of these boxes, which is These soundboxes are invented to cater the small merchants in India who are not able to pay for regular point-of-sale devices but using UPI payments.

In India, Google Pay is offering the SoundPod at very negligible price, charging a one-time fee of $18 for one year or one-time fee of $6.06 per day for 25 days in the month. Google pay said that merchants who use SoundPod to practice 400 payments in a month can enjoy the cash back of $1.5.
