Ways to know you have a wrong employee

As a recruiter, your job now is to hire the best talent that your company can get. To improve and increase the company’s revenue, you would obviously want to hire the person with the necessary skill required for your company. If the necessary skill sets are missing, you are notified with a series of error messages about your productivity which harms your company.

New employees often start their jobs with fresh attitude, effort and enthusiasm. Companies usually face with few problems with the new employees during the first day which make them realize that it is time to filter the team.

An employee who takes a strong stand on his opinions, argues a lot, is very loud with his superiors is just going to be there till the honeymoon period (probation) is over (your termination paper work is under process). An employee needs to be quietly assertive. While the fresh recruits should definitely voice their concerns and stand strong behind their decisions, they should take things slow and work through interpersonal dynamics so they build a strong positive relationship with the organization.

If a person is a fresh recruit, he should bring skills and experience from his earlier company. Your present employer for sure does not want to hear how the previous one worked or what strategy they used. Employees who frequently say “in my previous place I used to...” or “You know, previous place used these ideas…” These things suck the life out of your employee. One reason could be, your previous company could be a rebound of the present one you are at right now.

The other type of wrong recruits is when they keep asking for things. “I need this”, “I need that”, etc., an average employee who understands the company would not ask for things all the time, instead he would just concentrate on his job and improve his productivity graph. An employee who needs a better desk, better computer, better chair or a better view from his window for that matter will always try finding external reasons for his low productivity instead of reasons within himself.

Absenteeism is the most vital aspect when you to have to make sure that you have made the wrong choice. If he is absent or often late in the first few weeks itself the reason is obvious.
