Twist Mobiles Raises Investment from Matrix Partners


Bangalore: Mobile phone application developer, Twist Mobile India has raised series A round of funding from Matrix Partners. This investment has made a twist, by adding Rishi Navani - M.D and Vikram Vaidyanathan - V.P from Matrix partners on the board of this company. However, the raised amount has not been disclosed.

Twist Mobile was founded in 2009 by Virat Khutal but it was not successful despite working with telecom operators and building apps for them as reported by deal curry. In 2011, Twist came back to existence by developing games and services which could be downloaded instantly from internet for feature phones.

The company has reached 73 million downloads and out of this, 50 million downloads have been made by Nokia device. The company would be utilizing the raised funds for promoting the brand and product; it would also focus on building employee strength and improve its marketing functions.

Off lately, Indian app developing companies are gaining a lot of attention and funding. Twist was first funded by Achal Choudhary. It also has an additional plan of setting up an office in Vietnam with about 30 employees and would direct the business to focus more on building apps for Nokia – Symbian devices, series 40. It would also develop more city based apps with the local content for rural India.
