The Success Story Behind The Idly-Dosa Man Of 'Namma Bengaluru'

BANGALORE: Fortunes can change overnight, but the hard earned ones are here to stay. The latter is where the idli-dosa man of Bangalore comes in. P.C. Musthafa an IIM alumnus may not be the Ambani in business but his ideology to invest his time in right place reaped him benefits in the form of Bangalore’s largest natural, authentic meals that are made with fresh ingredients and without any chemicals or preservatives.

Bangalore‘s Tiffin plates ride with the items of the companies produce, not only in the city but also wields its hold over Mysore, Mangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, and even Dubai! Their product list now includes parotas, chapattis and chutneys too.

The root to this idea sprouted in the streets of Thippasandra locality where Musthafa’s cousin owned a grocery shop. On weekends the shop weekly store of dosa batter was supplied in a loose pack tied up with a rubber band, the demand was so huge that supplying to those standards was out of reach for the supplier.

This gap between the consumer and retailer is bridged and utilized by Musthafa, as to why not supply the same batter by himself and the initiative is the company ‘ID’ which his friend suggested afer Idly-Dosa, but as of Mushatfa it is Identity.

The idea clicked on its heels and they set up a 50 square kitchen which Musthafa rekindled as their ‘so-called factory’, as a first try they staked out 10 stores in the vicinity of Indira Nagar.
