SiliconIndia's Startup of the Week: ZipDial

Bangalore: In this modern world which is ruled by people and people in turn are ruled by mobile devices, a startup called ZipDial has come as a blessing. Blending amazing power of phones and the power of the people this company took an initiative to take out the friction of public opinion and voting. The idea was to enable public voting using missed calls. The co-founders Valerie Wagoner and Amiya Pathak were excited about it and could foresee a lot of other use cases beyond voting and public opinions.

In an exclusive interview with SiliconIndia Valerie Wagoner, the CEO of ZipDial said, “In markets like India where 4% of users have smartphones, less than 10% have internet access and only 1/3 even send text messages, it is extremely difficult to enable consumers to engage with content and businesses they like in any personalized way. We address the need for user loyalty and personalized content by democratizing the user interface to be simply based on dialing.”
