MadRat Games gets funded by Blume Ventures, First Light and Unitus Seed


Bangalore: MadRat Games, a Bangalore based company that offers online and mobile Indian language learning game called – Aksharit, has raised undisclosed amount in funding from Blume Ventures, Unitus Seed Fund and First Light Ventures reports MediaNama.com.

Founded and incorporated in 2008 by Rajat Dhariwal, Madhumita Haldar and Manuj Dhariwal, MadRat Games focuses on developing apps for mobile and web along with board games. Aksharit is an Indian language version of Scrabble which gained immense popularity for being one of its kinds which was later backed by Nokia.

Aksharit is available in 11 Indian languages including Telugu, Punjabi and Bengali and has reached to around 3000 schools in the span of just 1.5 years. The game is also available in digital versions which have been launched by Nokia on 5 lakh touch screen phones. It is available in Intel (AppUp Store) and in Google (official partner for Chromebook’s India launch).

The MadRat has now taken a B2B approach by directly selling the board games at mall etc thereby directly interacting with clients and increasing sales. In this sector of business, BrainNook secured seed funding from Imagine K12 in August.
