Indo-U.S. Startup Accelerator Flagged Off

Bangalore: U.S. Embassy flagged off the Indo-U.S. Startup Accelerator workshop today. The event is being organized in partnership with the Department of Science & Technology, the Indo-U.S. Science & Technology Forum, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry and 91springboard. It will take place November 22-23rd, at FICCI, Federation House, New Delhi. Attendance at this workshop is by invitation only, reports India Education Diary.

The startup workshop featuring 25 speakers and 170 entrepreneurs will be inaugurated by U.S. Ambassador Nancy Powell, Chairman of the Unique Identification Authority (UIDAI) of India Nandan Nilekani, and Secretary of the Department of Science & Technology Dr. T Ramasami.

The event is part of the Global Entrepreneurship Week, started on 18 November. The U.S. Government believes that sharing entrepreneurial spirit contributes to bilateral goal of boosting business ties between India and the United States.

The one and half day workshop will have the conventional ingredients of the startup accelerators. It will bring together startups, aspiring entrepreneurs, innovators, angel investors and venture capitalists from across the country to brainstorm and debate on challenges that a startup faces.

The U.S.-India joint ventures are currently focusing on supporting entrepreneurship in both the countries. The U.S.-India Science & Technology Endowment Board, a bi-national initiative with joint funding of $30 million, provides seed-capital grants of up to $400,000 to promising innovations in areas of health and empowering citizens.
