Bangalore-Based Babajob Raises Rs 3.5 Cr In Funding From Key Investors


 

Bangalore:  Babajob.com, a Bangalore-based blue-collared job portal has raised Rs 3.5 Cr ($0.6 million) in a series of funding from Gray Ghost Ventures, Silicon Valley veteran Vijay Khosla and a few more individual investors as reported by MediaNama.

Babajob.com was founded in 2007 as a portal dedicated to provide the job seekers information and jobs related to the informal job market such as maids, cooks, drivers etc. The company currently provides this information through several platforms like SMS, USSD, automated voice systems and call centers.

The company currently boasts of having 60,000 customers and shooting more than 1 million job alerts per month.

The company gives access to more than 500,000 job applicants segregating the jobs according to different factors like salary, location, language, skills etc. And these applicants can search for jobs in various categories like sales, BPO, beautician, drivers, cook etc.

The website also gives mobile credits and cash awards to those who post the jobs and also the ones who accepted those jobs provided they are the registered members of the portal.

Babajob’s Recent Activities:

During 2009, Reliance communications got into a partnership with Babajob to bring the job portal on its mobile platform. It was available in five languages: Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and the Reliance phone subscribers could access the website using R-World.

The company is also looking forward to bring a text-free version of its portal for illiterate subscribers.
