Bangalore: Well established firms like Airtel and Tech Mahindra are found forging partnerships or resorting to products or services from startups not only to cut heavy costs but also to create new technologies, social media management tools and fine human resources, reports TOI.

Palaniappan P, senior Vice President of Mahindra & Mahindra and business head at Mahindra Powerol says, “The technology (from young companies) is good; there is a big possibility it can be a game changer.” He and his firm have partnered with IIT Bombay- incubated Sedemac Mechanics for technology that can reduce diesel consumption by telecom towers. This is not the first teaming up as the firm had forged partnership with NextGen, which supplies bio fuel to 500 telecom towers. This has in turn helped the small firm to ease capital flow and sell their technology to telecom towers.

Another young data analytics venture called Vizury that helps in analyzing data for consumer facing businesses also has a big enterprise connection. Jet Airways is benefiting from this as Vice President for ecommerce Belson Coutinho quotes, “Vizury is generating great results for us through their personalized re-targeting solution.”

Vodafone and Virgin Airlines are other active buyers of technology solutions from small firms. The reason why small companies are the targets is because they lead to quicker innovations rather than sticking on to their technology that is cumbersome.

In the Human Resource sector, emerging companies are providing new tools to measure productivity. Pune based Sapience Analytics sells technology tools that measure employee productivity to Tech Mahindra.

 With younger companies offering such technological solutions, the big and established enterprises are making rapid revenue making businesses. Vizury which was set up in 2010 is already targeting revenue of 540 crore by 2014.
