10,000 Startups Program: Aid to Enhance Startup Ecosystem


"The new mantra in large corporate houses is to embrace innovation, internal or external. We are able to nurture innovative companies, aggregate them and provide resources to connect with them; else, these companies would be hard to discover," said Ravi Gururaj, chairman of the Nasscom Product Council.

The areas of big interest has spread across various sectors, though E-commerce has been in the lime light recently, other sectors like technology are being given keen interest in respects to startups based on dealing with big data and analytics, education and health are slowly being invested into as well.

In 2013 there were 200 startup companies that were funded out of the numerous applicants. NASSCOM hopes to change this by operating in a four phase model. The first to collect applicants, the second to due diligence and the third to create sessions with partners to take up the sponsorship, thus creating a cycle that will give more companies a chance at getting funding.

Many companies that have benefited from the NASSCOM initiatives are doing well today, like SeekSherpa, Adspark and BookPad, to name a few. For this to succeed there must be many alternatives to enhance and eco-system that supports this is the opinion of officials.
