Badami-Pattadakal-Aihole, Karnataka

The land of brave soldiers and its rich heritage displays how Chalukya Empire flourished and ruled for over 200 years. Badami is well known for its temples carved out of rocks and the caves slashed deep into the uneven surface under the huge rock. The ancient cave temples still has the old script in Kannada. Badami was nominated as a capital city during the times of Chalukyas from 540 AD to 757 AD. In the 6th and 8th centuries under the rule of Badami Chalukyas, the emperors were crowned in the place called Pattadakal. This place served as a capital of the Chalukya dynasty of Karnataka in Southern India. The rulers built many monuments and temples in their times.  Aihole is appreciated for its Chalukyan architecture; and is located on the banks of river Malaprabha. It is referred as the first capital of early Chalukyas. Aihole is also known as Aryapur in some of the Kannada scripts.

Khuldhara, Rajasthan

Khuldhara is located 30km far from Jaisalmer and is deserted for about 200 years. Previously, Khuldhara was an incredible place occupied by Paliwal Brahmins. According to the history, Salim Singh the Dewan of Jaisalmer had a huge crush on the daughter of the village head and demanded to marry her. He also intimidated that anybody going against him would be punished and imposed with unscrupulous taxes. All the people from the village decided to abandon their ancestral homes after the meeting held among people of 85 villages. The Paliwals disappeared overnight cursing the village that no one will ever stay in the village. Thereafter, till date village remains deserted and barren.  There are rumors that anybody who stays overnight will be haunted with strange paranormal activities.
