Top 10 Best Selling Cars in June 2014

Rank: Maruti Swift

Rank: 4

The Suzuki Swift has been one of India’s most favorite cars in recent times. After its launch in 2005 with 1.3 Litre petrol engine and then in 2007 with the Fiat sourced 1.3 Litre Multijet diesel engines, the car received overwhelming responses from the Indian buyers that resulted in long waiting periods.

With this Maruti not only dominated the list of the top 3 but also sealed the 4th position with the Swift hatchback which registered 13,632 units. However, with this sales figure the hatchback has lost two places as its sales dropped by 24 percent compared to the previous month’s figures of 17,936 units. With the launch of the facelifted version round the corner, the newer car might help move up a few places.

Mahindra Bolero

Rank: 5

Mahindra replaced its popular SUV, the Armada, in June 2000 with the Bolero and since then, it has been the best-selling utility vehicle in the Indian market. The Bolero which has been the company’s consistent performer since its launch, has continued to be an indispensable cash-cow for the company as it clocked 7,909 units sales in the month of June. However, the month-on-month growth has actually declined as compared to 8,846 units in May, but the utility vehicle managed to gain a place, overtaking the Hyundai Grand i10 in the process. Meanwhile,  as the major chunk of the sales come from the rural market, the next gen model is testing extensively to make the Bolero find the right balance of styling and utility to ensure that urban buyers also find it an attractive option.
