Tata Kite # Tata Kite

The entry-level hatchback, code named as kite, is being developed to take on the likes of the Maruti Celerio with an AMT gearbox. Rumors suggest that, the kite might be launched in both petrol and diesel variants, which will be an added advantage for Tata as none of the variants in the entry-level price point have a diesel engine in the segment.

The engine options are yet to be revealed by the company and the current choice available are the 1.2 liter petrol and the 1.4 liter diesel unit doing duty on the Indica and the Indigo presently.

# Hyundai iX25

Hyundai is looking at taking on the SUV craze in India with its compact SUV which will be launched this year. Made known in concept form this year, it is the same as the Renault Duster in size and looks good.

On the other hand, the car won’t be called the ix25 when it comes to India and will be launched under different name, to avoid a clash with the i20 hatch back which falls in the hatchback segment.

Front side of the car comes with sharp headlamps that match the chrome grille. Other interesting facts about the design include the upward rising window line and wraparound tail-lamps.

The Hyundai iX25 is expected to use the same engines as the Verna which is a 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines with the same gearboxes as well along with a new five-speed automatic as an option.
