2. Rupert Murdoch and Wendi Deng

Rupert Murdoch, the media magnate has not paid the price for one or two, but three failed marriages. His first marriage to Patricia Booker ended in 1967. His second marriage was then with Anna Torv, a Scottish journalist who worked for one of his papers in Sydney. The couple is said to have three children and when they got divorced it seems Anna received a £700 million settlement.

Just after 19 days of divorce, Murdoch, who was 68, then married 30-year-old Wendi Deng. The couple split last year and are said to have reached an “amicable” divorce deal in which Wendi got to keep the couples multi-million pound Manhattan penthouse as a home for her as well as the couple's two young daughters.

3. Bernie and Slavica Ecclestone

After getting divorced from the F1 boss Bernie in 2009, Slavica is said to have received a bumper £700 million payout. In fact the court papers show that since the marriage ended, he has in fact received £300m from his ex-wife's trust fund.

The trust was set up in 1997 and the proceeds from Mr Ecclestone's sale of F1 in 2006 went into it. The trust is thought to be worth more than £2.4 billion and its beneficiaries are Slavica and Bernie.
