The couple filed for divorce in 1974, it took Soraya until 1979 to sue her ex-husband for a cash settlement, estimated at $850 million. While she didn't get near that amount she still walked away with a cool £500 million.

5. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s wife Maria Shriver filed for divorce when she learned that he had an unlawful child with Mildred Baena, one of their household staff. The divorce fling had been kept secret for years until the actor turned politician admitted that he was the child's father in 2011.

This divorce was one of the most publicized in Hollywood. Also under California law Schwarzenegger was required to hand over half his wealth to Ms Shriver, putting the settlement at £150-£225 million.
