Women Who Are Etching Their Names in Food Industry

BANGALORE: It is astonishing to see that despite women dominating the home kitchens, and despite the growing screams of feminism, the number of women chefs or the number of women in the entire food industry is negligible. The following list celebrates the women who are transforming the food industry with their sheer perseverance and ambition.

Lisa Q. Fetterman, CEO, Nomiku

Fetterman invented Nomiku, the first immersion circulator with her husband, Abe Fetterman in 2012. Nomiku, made specifically for the home purposes, allows users to create and share recipes. The home sous-vide machine can be used to circulate water around anything, from eggs to steak, by tuning to the exact temperature.

It was introduced to the market back in 2013 via a Kickstarter campaign, and has earned a total of 2.5 Mn dollars in revenue. The Nomiku is not just used in homes but is coveted in high-end restaurants worldwide, including Saison, Noma and even the White House. Fetterman, 27, also helps other business enthusiasts by offering online classes to bring their businesses from dream to reality.
