Sport-utility vehicles, which are basically considered as light trucks in the western parts of the world have gained rapid popularity in the Indian auto market of late. Indian SUVs are loved for their meaner looks and bulky built bodies which make it a safer vehicle to drive on Indian roads. Though SUVs consume more petrol and diesel as compared to the other cars, but the kind of muscle, styling and seating capacity they provide, makes them the best bet among the buyers.

Renault Duster: The Duster under the Renault line of cars has been doing very well and in great demand as it is one of the most affordable SUVs in the Indian auto market. While it may not have 4-wheel drive, but it’s well built body has got what it’s needed to drive on hilly terrains and zoom across city roads. Till date, the Duster remains one of the most preferred SUVs you could own at around 7.78 -11.79 lakhs. The Duster petrol variant is powered by 1.6L K4M engine of 1598cc, which throws out 104PS at 5850 RPM and torque of 145Nm at 3750 RPM. While the diesel version is powered with 1.5L dci K9K HP engine with displacement of 1461cc, which churns out utmost power of 85PS at 3750 RPM and torque of 200Nm at 1900 RPM. It also has an acclaimed mileage of 13KMPL for petrol vehicle, while the diesel engine delivers a best in class mileage of 20KM per litre.
