Why is Politics Unappealing To Indian Youth?

The world is never going to forget the contributions made by Mahatma Gandhi, Abraham Lincoln and the likes, because they left a mark behind which the world still appreciates. They were certainly young when they started out their career in politics. Democracy is the result of their efforts and efficiency. The same way, change is possible only with dedication.

Though 50 percent of the population lie in the age group of 25-40, only a mere 6.3 percent of them are participating in Lok Sabha. How can we call such ill represented gathering as a parliament? This striking absence of youth in the democracy is largely being overlooked. Many complain that politicians are corrupt and there is nothing clean about the theory of politics, when they can barely understand what politics exactly mean.We conveniently get adjusted to this disappointing fact that, youth in India are least bothered about politics. It is time to view things in a clear perception as what they mean rather than unreasonably stereotyping the situations.

It is important to understand that change is process and cannot happen overnight and is possible only with righteous efforts. Instead of blaming the youth-the so called ‘Facebook generation’, for their carefree attitude, why not instill those values in them right from their childhood.
