The Ups And Downs: Most Memorable Moments In Sports

Rohit’s Historic record: Sri Lanka would have never imagined what they were getting themselves into when they decided to fill in the gap left by the West Indies cricket after they pulled out from the series in India. A historic match was played where Rohit Sharma, coming out to bat, scored 264 runs from just 176 balls in Eden Gardens, Kolkata. This knock will always be remembered in history; even making Sachin’s 200 runs in ODI a distant memory.

Arch-rival defeated: India has been struggling for a while in their national game, hockey. However, this year the hockey team brought the honor and glory back to India by defeating Australia on their own backyard and then going on to defeated the biggest rivals in every game, Pakistan. In the Asian Games India defeated Pakistan 4-2 to clinch the gold medal after 16 years. Hopefully they can keep up this feat and hold this position for a good number of years.

A teary Asian Game ending: One of the most dramatic, disheartening and shocking events of the Asian Games was when Sarita Devi was Banned from boxing after the stunt she pulled at the awarding ceremony. She was given the bronze medal for coming third at the boxing event but felt she was wrongly judged. This stunt from Sarita almost got her banned from boxing forever but the AIBA considered her apology and banned her for one year. Hopefully she doesn’t pull a stunt like this again.
