Sachin's 'Playing It My Way' Is a Collection Of Surprises To Fans

Master Blaster for the first time revealed about Greg Chappell, who was then the coach of Indian Cricket Team. Sachin referred to him as the ‘ringmaster’ who tried to compel Sachin to take the captaincy from Dravid just months ahead of World Cup-2007. However Chappel replied to Sachin’s claims with outright rejection. VVS Laxman, Zaheer, and Harbhajan rose in support of Sachin’s version of events, stating that they too had been victims of Chappell's dictatorial style of functioning.

In his lines about Chappell, Sachin says that the, "ringmaster would impose his ideas on the players without showing any signs of being concerned whether they feel comfortable or not."

The book may seem highly opinionated, but since it is an autobiography, Sachin had the freedom to reveal his views. He rated Michael Clarke as a better captain then Ricky Ponting or Steve Waugh. He opines that Clarke pulled out achievements despite lack of an expert team at disposal. Sachin also went on to criticize Ponting and Clarke for their conduct in ‘Monkeygate’ Test of 2008. Criticism from the reticent Sachin we have known can come as a bit of surprise.

The book is sure to leave the reader with a pleasant feel about Sachin and allows us to love the hero much more than before as we now have an insight into his life. The Master Blaster ‘Played it His Way’ even in writing.
