18, 000 dead/missing in Japan’s Quake—March 11th, 2011

A fatal 9.0 quake struck off the coast of Japan on March 11, 2011, triggering a tsunami as high as 90 feet killing as many as 16, 000 people. 2011 Japan quake is one of the devastating ones the mankind ever faced this decade. The quake complemented with tsunami washed away towns and communities along the northeast coast in one strong wave. More than 2,600 are still listed as missing four years after the disaster. The 2011 earthquake was the largest ever to strike Japan.
