Modi To Visit Varanasi Tomorrow For 'Good Governance Day'

Modi had talked about his intentions to get BHU equipped with the facility during his previous visit to the city.

On this occasion, Malaviya's grandson Justice Giridhar Malaviya, a retired judge of the Allahabad High Court who was chosen by Modi to be one of his proposers at the time of filing nomination papers for Lok Sabha polls, is likely to present the PM with the historical conch shell which his father Govind Malaviya had blown at the Parliament on August 15, 1947 to announce India's Independence.

After being through with the engagements at BHU, the PM is expected to travel to the DLW campus where he is likely to inaugurate the project for expansion of the factory costing about Rs 250 crore and dedicate a fuel-efficient passenger train engine to the nation.

Tight security measures are in place for the visit with the elite Special Protection Group team headed by a DIG-rank officer camping in the city.
