Where women are seen weak in Stock Exchange markets, Chitra Ramakrishna went ahead to achieve great heights in the field. She is the first woman Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of India’s leading stock exchange National Stock Exchange.

She also held other positions in NSE in her career that includes Joint managing director, Head of Listing and Deputy managing director, and director, Member of Derivatives Panel of SEBI and Member of Executive Committee at National Securities Depository Ltd.

She achieved great heights in her career and went on to be a part of a five-member team selected by the Government of India and tasked with the creation of a modern screen-based pan-Indian stock exchange. She was also part of a team formed to draft the legislative framework for Sebi.
