Junk is The Old Adage That Can Transform Into New Treasures



Of course there is a Junk Robot too: Robots are kids’ favorite craft, as you can customize that Robot into any form. A bunch of creative minds from University of West England transformed a whole load of recycled material into a Robot that can effectively be pre programmed. Materials like computer fans, household objects, a Land Rover light and some parts of PS3 were smartly put together to make this Robot. But this project blew up about $20,000. However using commercial products would cost hundreds of thousand dollars.

The ‘Fab-Fi’: Wi-Fi from the Fab Labs: Today’s world literally cannot run without internet, which is necessary for various daily jobs. But there is another part to the same world where people are oblivious to the internet and it is considered to be a luxury product. Afghanistan is one such country that falls in the other side of the world. As there is no official wireless network in most part of the country, a small team has thoughtfully developed the Fab-Fi open source wireless network. It allows anyone to connect to the internet by constructing to the nodes that are made out of junk available at home. This project was a huge success and eventually spread all over Afghanistan and even reached Kenya.
