What according to you is the most essential equipment of a fighter pilot? A parachute may be! But did it ever occur to you that by taking the help of a parachute the fighter pilot is accepting his defeat against death? Apparently the Germans thought that allied pilots who use parachutes to save him from a flight crash is an act of 'cowardice'. Seriously? Cowardice? Looks like there is something seriously wrong with the then Germans Their belief was that if a pilot knew he had even a chance of surviving by bailing out, he would be less likely to try winning.

Fear: Lightning rods impeded God’s wrath

All of us have lived through the tyranny of lightning from times immemorial. And back then it was believed that lightning indicated God’s way of showing anger. And the poor Benjamin Franklin made an effort to stop those furious lights from harming the people by inventing lightning rods. Lightning rods prevent harmful lightning by diverting them to the ground. The reaction to such a great invention was rather hilarious than disappointing. Franklin’s lightning rods were soon blamed for the 1755 earthquake in Massachusetts. And God is definitely not a rude man like us to 'show his anger'.
