Chandigarh recorded a maximum of 37.8 degrees Celsius, which was one notch below normal, Ambala recorded a high of 37.2 degrees Celsius, three notches below normal.

However, Hisar, remained hot at 43 degrees Celsius, up by one degree.

In Punjab, the maximum temperature settled three degrees each below normal at Amritsar (37.2 degrees Celsius), Ludhiana (38 degrees Celsius) and Patiala (37.4 degrees Celsius), the MeT department report said here.

In Uttar Pradesh, temperatures were appreciably above normal in Allahabad, Lucknow, Bareilly, Jhansi and Agra division, above normal in Varanasi, Kanpur, Moradabad and Meerut divisions and normal in the remaining divisions over the state.

Rajasthan continued to reel under intense heat conditions where Kota remained the hottest place recording a maximum of 45 degree Celsius.

Heat wave continued unabated in parts of the desert state where Barmer, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Churu and Jaipur were hot at 44.9, 44.5, 44.4, 44.2 and 44 degree Celsius. Heat wave conditionsare likely to prevail over the next 24 hours.
