Jadav Payeng: The Forest Man
Jadav Payeng was born in the state of Assam in northeastern India. Over the years, he saw an increasing number of reptile deaths in Assam and started planting Bamboo in an area that had washed away by floods. Today, that same land hosts 1,360 acres of Jungle called ‘Molai’ Forest. That forest also has several thousand trees and is now home to Bengal tigers, Indian rhinoceros, over 100 deer and rabbits, besides apes and several varieties of birds, including a large number of vultures. Now, he is ready go to other places of the state to start a similar venture and aims to spread his forest to another sand bar inside of Brahmaputra.
