From Micronesia to South Sudan: New Born Nations in The World

Republic of South Sudan:

Following a sweeping victory with 98.3 percent of the population voting for separation from Sudan in the referendum held in January 2011, South Sudan peacefully seceded from the Khartoum Central Government. The referendum was a result of Naivasha Agreement between the Khartoum central government and the Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLA). Its capital is now at Juba. It is the 193rd nation in the world.

The precedence of the vote was seen as important because most African state’s borders were decided during colonial times which resulted in a heterogeneous mix of religions, ethnicities and cultures. Ethnic clashes and the regions they belonged to were the major issues which led to the civil wars among the Sudanese. Loss of revenue and demarcation of the boundaries are among the major issues.

Micronesia:

Another Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands of United Nations Trust Territory under U.S. administration, attained independence on 17th September 1991.

Micronesia formed its own constitutional government on May 10, 1979. On November 3, 1986, independence was attained under the Compact of Free Association with the U.S. under which the latter remained responsible for Micronesia's defense for prolonged 50 years.
