Death Penalties That May Give You Nightmares

China: Non Violent Crimes like Embezzlement and Tax Fraud are Severely Punishable:

According to the Chinese norms the number of people actually executed cannot be revealed. But certainly the number is in tens of thousands. There is a list of 55 crimes that are punishable for death in China. And one such crime is Embezzlement and Tax Fraud. Basically ‘cheating’ is a crime eligible for capital punishment.

And surprisingly enough, polling in 2007 found that 58 percent of the population is in favor of capital punishment. Therefore in China it is considered to be okay to deprive someone of their life if they have a tendency to cheat people for their own benefit.

Iran: One of the few Countries that Executes Offenders under 18:

Iran’s official crimes punishable by death in Iran are armed robbery, treason, murder; drug trafficking, rape, pedophilia, sodomy, kidnapping, and terrorism. Despite the fact that the Iran signed the Conventions on the Rights of the Child with the UN which prohibits the execution of offenders under 18, Iran is still considered the largest executioner of minors in the world.

However there is a difference between executing a Muslim and non-Muslim minor offender. And a murder case can be settled for a ‘diyya’ which means the accused must pay a private settlement claim between the victim’s family and the perpetrator.
