Military Assistance

As the Tamil Nadu government seeked for military assistance, two columns of army's Garrison Infantry Battalion are reporting at Tambaram and Oorapakkam. NDRF chief O P Singh shares, “At the same time, we are also requisitioning teams from Bengaluru and Andhra Pradesh.” The Indian Navy and air force along with the Indian Coast guard offered radio communications to coordinate the relief operations. IAF choppers are continuously flying over the affected zones, in order to help the needy victims. Two Air Force helicopters are designated at Tirupati for relief and rescue purpose.

The dead city life

Road, rail or air commutation has reached a paralyzed state in Chennai. Air services to and fro the state capital will remain in a halt till December 6. The Indian Airforce pressed three aircrafts to rescue the water struck passengers at the airport. Railway stations are now more of rescue camps for the poor while local trains remain parked on tracks of stations like Tambaram. Public places like mosques, theatres, offices, temples, schools or hotels are now open to the homeless victims of the flood as temporary relief zones. No food and no clothes state are being overcome by the mass relief reaching from nearby states. Shops are also closed in major market places like T-Nagar.
