South Is India's Safest Destination For Working Women


Bangalore: Today, women are at par with men in almost all walks of life when it comes to great achievements in their career path. But, are women really safe in their workplace? This is one such question that often popped up within the women folk in India. Definitely, South India is that part of the country where women finds safer work place compared to other states, reports Chethan Kumar of TNN.

Every year between January 2010 and December 2013, the National Commission for Women (NCW) recorded around 115 complaints by women on sexual harassment at the workplace. Out of which, south India has recorded the least complaint as compared to other parts of the country.

Altogether 457 complaints were filed before the commission from across states within the four years durations. An official said, "There are many who directly approach the police while most of them do not raise their voices," reports TNN. ‘Most complaints come from mid-level employees,’ added the officials.

Delhi, India's capital that has become infamous for ever-increasing incidents of rape, has so far observed 99 complaints file by women from various organizations. This city comes next to Uttar Pradesh which witnessed 118 complaints booked.
