BANGALORE: A historic conference on climate is taking place in Paris with over 40,000 people being a part of it. Despite the fact that this isn’t the first time that an event as such is taking place, this conference looks promising and many positive climatic negotiations are expected out of it. Nation leaders would come forward to present their plans of cutting down the green house emission in their respective countries and an agreement laid out by the Paris conference would legally keep a tab if the nations are actually realizing their commitments.

Here are 7 things you need to know about this historic conference on climate in Paris, reports ET.

Efforts to make the planet cooler
This conference with draft a legal framework under which all the countries will agree to implement the pledges, they present to cut down the emission of green house gases in their nations. These plans have been declared by 177 countries which include India, China, U.S. and EU.

93 percent of the carbon emissions in the world come from these countries.
The agreement will come into effect from 2020 onwards and continue till 2030.

The agreement aims on bringing down the level of global warming to 2 degrees C above pre-industrial levels. However, scientists are of the view that the pledges submitted can hardly meet the target. Atmospheric temperature is estimated to rise by 2.7-3.6 degrees C by 2100.
