BANGALORE: It was in the19th century that fish keeping using an aquarium became a hobby. This hobby further boomed in the 20th century with electricity allowing artificial lighting, aeration, filtration and water heating. People love to keep fishes as pets, mostly kids and teens keep fishes as pets in their small and big fish aquariums in homes. The most popular fish is Goldfish, as it is smaller and can be easily maintained; also, it can be kept in an ideal range of temperature of 12-18 degree Celsius.

We have seen small and big aquariums in every home but, there are very big fish aquariums that have the ability to store millions of gallons of water and capable of keeping big fishes like sharks and whales. Below listed are some of the huge aquariums around the world:

1. Georgia Aquarium: The Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta considered the largest aquarium in the world houses more than 100,000 sea creatures from 500 different species. Thanks to Home Depot co-founder Bernie Marcus, whose funding of $250 million donation opened the aquarium in November 2005. This aquarium is the only institution outside of Asia to house whales and sharks. The sharks are kept in a gigantic 24 million liter which is nearly 6.3 million gallon tank in the Ocean Voyager exhibit. This aquarium also has animals that are unique to Georgia, such as the rare loggerhead sea turtle and lionfish.
